Endlich ist der grosse Tag gekommen: die neue Airbus A350 der Fluggesellschaft Swiss ist in Zürich angekommen. Nachdem wir sie in Toulouse im April das erste mal gesehen haben, konnten wir es kaum erwarten, sie in Zürich im Landeanflug sehen zu können. Im Wert in Toulouse war sie noch „nackt“ und ohne Triebwerke. Und heute natürlich fertig inkl. der Sonderlackierung „Wanderlust“. Dieser Name soll Fernweh bedeuten und die Lust zum Reisen erwecken.

Mit der HB-IFA begrüsst SWISS ihr erstes Airbus A350-900-Langstreckenflugzeug und eröffnet damit ein neues Kapitel in der Geschichte der Schweizer Airline. Der hochmoderne Jet steht für Nachhaltigkeit, Komfort und Innovation. Er verbraucht bis zu 25 % weniger Treibstoff, ist deutlich leiser und bietet Passagieren ein spürbar angenehmeres Flugerlebnis. An Bord erwartet die Gäste das neue „SWISS Senses“-Kabinenkonzept. Mit mehr Platz, natürlichem Design, modernem Lichtkonzept und einem völlig neuen Premiumgefühl.
Die Registrierung HB-IFA trägt dabei eine besondere Symbolik. Schon in den 1960er-Jahren flog eine Douglas DC-9-15 der damaligen Swissair unter demselben Kennzeichen. Mit dem neuen A350 wird dieser traditionsreiche Name nun wiederbelebt – als Brücke zwischen Vergangenheit und Zukunft der Schweizer Luftfahrt.
Der Airbus A350-900 wird schrittweise die betagten Airbus A340 ersetzen. Zunächst auf kürzeren Strecken eingesetzt, bevor er auf interkontinentale Routen wechselt. Mit der HB-IFA setzt SWISS ein klares Zeichen für Effizienz, Innovation und Schweizer Präzision. Und macht die Faszination des Fliegens ein Stück leiser, leichter und nachhaltiger.

The big day has finally arrived: Swiss’s new Airbus A350 has arrived in Zurich. After seeing it for the first time in Toulouse in April, we could hardly wait to see it approaching Zurich. At the landing in Toulouse, it was still „naked“ and without engines. And today, of course, it’s finished, including the special „Wanderlust“ livery. This name is meant to convey wanderlust and awaken the desire to travel.

With HB-IFA, SWISS welcomes its first Airbus A350-900 long-haul aircraft, thus opening a new chapter in the history of the Swiss airline. This state-of-the-art jet represents sustainability, comfort, and innovation. It consumes up to 25% less fuel, is significantly quieter, and offers passengers a noticeably more pleasant flight experience. On board, guests will find the new „SWISS Senses“ cabin concept – with more space, a natural design, a modern lighting concept, and a completely new premium feel.
The registration HB-IFA carries a special symbolic significance. Back in the 1960s, a Douglas DC-9-15 of the then Swissair flew under the same registration. With the new A350, this storied name is now being revived – as a bridge between the past and future of Swiss aviation.
The Airbus A350-900 will gradually replace the aging Airbus A340s and initially be used on shorter routes before switching to intercontinental routes. With the HB-IFA, SWISS is setting a clear example of efficiency, innovation, and Swiss precision – and making the thrill of flying a little quieter, lighter, and more sustainable.
